Science: TES Level 1B Algorithms

The controling document for TES Level 1B data processing algorithms is the Level 1B Algorithm Theoretical Basis Document (ATBD) [pdf File].

The basic purpose of the Level 1B algorithm is to determine spectra of radiation emitted by the atmosphere from interferograms generated by the TES Fourier transform spectrometer (FTS). This calculation consists of the following steps:

  1. Transformation of interferograms into spectra.

  2. Radiometric calibration.

  3. Off-axis ILS correction.

  4. Spectral calibration.

  5. Data quality assessment.
